IL PROGETTO

 ÀMINA>ANIMA è una metafora itinerante di andata e ritorno che intende valorizzare la Sardegna contemporanea, testimoniandone l’universalità attraverso un'azione di attualizzazione culturale.

Lo scopo del progetto è sperimentare una nuova forma di promozione culturale che crei valore e sviluppo e ricerchi la chiave di dialogo con un mercato competitivo e contemporaneo. Siamo partiti dalle arti contemporanee per far emergere l’enorme patrimonio naturale, culturale, storico e ancestrale della Sardegna.

Quanto è presente nell’arte la cultura identitaria? Come si esprime un patrimonio identitario così antico e riconoscibile come quello Sardo, nella naturale contaminazione dell’arte ed in particolare nell’opera dell’artista che lascia la propria terra d’origine? L’arte è materia fluida, contaminazione, arricchimento. L’Identità è luogo di partenza, ma continuamente si trasforma per riappropriarsi del significato originario, richiamando il principio filosofico di “identità e contraddizione”.

Il nostro obiettivo è descrivere l’identità culturale e ancestrale della Sardegna dandole una definizione e un nome, l’abbiamo individuata nel concetto di “anima” e abbiamo cercato di farla emergere dall’incontro con gli artisti che abbiamo voluto coinvolgere in questo cammino, perchè è proprio nell’arte contemporanea che questo concetto prende forma e forza.

Anima>Àmina (Soul), è quindi il desiderio di partire dal lavoro dell’artista per far emergere l’impalpabile ripetizione dell’antico rituale di interdipendenza tra Uomo e Natura, tra l’Arte e la Dea Madre.

Nel distacco o nell’avvicinamento, l’esperienza del viaggio è ciò su cui verte principalmente la nostra attenzione. Il “viaggio” è parte integrante nella cultura della Sardegna contemporanea. Il viaggio di chi ci nasce e sente l’esigenza di aprire la sua vita a nuove esperienze, il viaggio di chi solo con l’esperienza nel territorio può capire sino in fondo cosa significhi esserne parte. Dalle relazioni tra arte, cultura e viaggio abbiamo suggestioni che possano essere messe connessione con strategie ed azioni finalizzate ad attrarre nuovi flussi di visitatori affascinati da luoghi impregnati di ritualità ancestrali palpabili nella natura del territorio, nella produzione artigianale, nelle tradizioni popolari, le cui energie sono anche fonte di ispirazione per un linguaggio contemporaneo in qualsiasi disciplina artistica.

Viaggio e Anima sono le parole chiave che guidano le azioni del progetto.

IN THE FRAME OF AMINA - SARDEGNA/NEW YORK/SARDEGNA

“Contemporaneo – secondo il filosofo Giorgio Agamben – è colui che riceve in pieno viso il fascio di tenebra che proviene dal suo tempo». Cos’è questo fascio di tenebra? Si tratta di un «appuntamento segreto fra l’arcaico e il moderno”, per il quale “l’avanguardia, che si è smarrita nel tempo, insegue il primitivo e l’arcaico […] per essere contemporanei non solo del nostro tempo e dell’ "ora", ma anche delle sue figure nei testi e nei documenti del passato”.

Le parole di Agamben descrivono con precisione l’impulso che ha dato origine all’azione SARDEGNA-NEW YORK-SARDEGNA, a cura di Fabio Acca, nell’ambito del progetto ÀMINA>ANIMA (SOUL).

“Àmina” in lingua sarda significa “anima”, qui intesa da un lato come forma ancestrale di radicamento identitario di una terra e del suo popolo; dall’altro come “viaggio”, inteso come esperienza rigenerativa dell’origine. AMINA-ANIMA, fin dal movimento cui allude la torsione palindroma inscritta nel titolo, è dunque una metafora itinerante di andata e ritorno, che intende stanare l'identità sarda dandole una nuova percezione che ne ribadisca il valore, testimoniandone al contempo l’universalità.

L’azione SARDEGNA-NEW YORK-SARDEGNA fa propria questa dialettica inesauribile tra immutabilità e trasformazione, coinvolgendo in un percorso di ricerca tre artisti nati e cresciuti in Sardegna: Christian Chironi, Alessandro Carboni, Maurizio Saiu. Figure nella cui produzione artistica convivono con mirabile equilibrio sia le matrici culturali di provenienza, sia una vocazione internazionale che ne mette in discussione la cornice tradizionale. Ciascuno di loro può essere considerato una eccellenza nel campo della sperimentazione dei linguaggi del contemporaneo in cui l’atto artistico convoca la presenza del corpo, in una dinamica che si fa soglia e sintesi tra le diverse discipline: Chironi nelle arti plastico-installative, Carboni nelle arti performative, Saiu nelle arti coreutiche e musicali.

L’azione SARDEGNA-NEW YORK-SARDEGNA è articolata in tre tappe, in una logica, appunto, di andate e ritorno. La prima (l’origine) si configura come preliminare progettazione e individuazione di un tema appartenente alla cultura originaria e rituale della Sardegna – il tessere, l’abitare, il cantare – da sviluppare in forma di ricerca nelle due tappe successive: una residenza a New York (il viaggio) e una restituzione pubblica in Sardegna (il ritorno), in un luogo evocativo e funzionale rispetto alla ricerca in atto.

In questo percorso gli artisti sono chiamati a documentare la propria esperienza di ricerca attraverso testimonianze, appunti, scritture, immagini. Un patrimonio di auto-narrazione che pone al centro il processo di trasformazione e contaminazione della propria cultura originaria in una risorsa collettiva declinabile a qualsiasi latitudine del mondo.

ÀMINA>ANIMA (Soul) is the metaphor of a round-trip journey to discover and reveal the universal value of Sardinia through contemporary art and cultural exchange

Re-interpreted in today’s language: can tradition still be considered equal to cultural identity? Are there any enterprises out there, able to create value and opportunities for Sardinia’s cultural and archeological heritage in today’s competitive market?

Art is a “liquid matter”, a starting point, a place of cross-contamination and enrichment. It molds and reclaims its original meaning as in the philosophical principle of identity and contradiction. It becomes a style and a behavioral module. 
This project was conceived on the assumption that every cultural identity cannot be explained in any other way but with its identification with “Soul”.

Anima>Àmina, is the impalpable soul perceived through the repetition of ancestral rites that have the power to convey their strength especially if experienced in the land where they were born and where they continue to be performed. From our analysis of the latest touristic trends and flows, it is clear that in today’s sophisticated travel market, living an experience is what primarily drives people to travel. To be an actual part of that experience is the added value that modern travelers look for.

How can the magic surrounding a thousand-year-old culture be transmitted outside of its birthplace?

Art is the medium. We believe that from the link between art, culture, and travel it is possible to develop strategies and actions to attract new flows of those visitors who are fascinated by places filled with ancestral rites that permeate the territory, as well as the artisanal productions and the popular traditions that are the nourishment of the contemporary language of any artistic discipline.

Travel and Soul are the keywords that inspire and drive this project.

IN THE FRAME OF AMINA - SARDEGNA/NEW YORK/SARDEGNA

“A Contemporary – based on what the philosopher Giorgio Agamben says, is someone who is struck, straight on his face, by ray of darkness coming from his Time.” What is this ray of darkness? It’s a “secret date between the modern and the archaic” for which “the avantgarde, that has been lost in time, follows the primitive and the archaic […] to be contemporary non just of our time or of “the hour”, but also in its past figures, texts and documents.”

Agamben words precisely describe the impulse that inspired Valeria Orani and originated the SARDEGNA-NEW YORK-SARDEGNA movement, curated by Fabio Acca in within the ÀMINA>ANIMA (SOUL) project.

“Àmina” in the Sardinian language, means soul, intended as a form of ancestral, identification rooting of a land and its inhabitants; and as a journey - a regenerative experience that roots back to the origins. Starting from the movement alluded in the palindrome torsion inscribed in the title, ÀMINA>ANIMA, is a traveling metaphor of departure and return; that wants to track down the Sardinian identity through an updated perspective that can confirm its value and be also a testimony of its universality.

The action SARDEGNA-NEW YORK-SARDEGNA, makes this infinite dialectic between immutability and transformation its own, by involving, in a researching path, three artists born and raised in Sardinia: Christian Chironi, Alessandro Carboni, Maurizio Saiu. Three profiles of artists in whose productions cohabit, in an admirable equilibrium, the cultural matrixes they are coming from, and their international vocation which questions the traditional frame. Each one of them can be considered an excellence in the field of the contemporary artistic languages experimentation, where the artistic act summons the presence of the body, in a dynamic that becomes a threshold and a synthesis between different disciplines: Chironi in the plastic-installations art; Carboni in the performative arts and Saiu in the dance and music arts.

The action SARDEGNA-NEW YORK-SARDEGNA is articulated into three stages, in a logic of departure and return. The first one, (the origin), is a preliminary design and identification of a theme belonging to the original and ritual Sardinian’s culture – the weaving; the living; the singing – that will be developed into a research mode during the following stages: a New York’s residency (the journey), and a public giveback to Sardinia (the return), in an evocative place that will be functional to the actual research.

Over the course of this journey, the artists are invited to document their personal research’s experience through testimonies, notes, writings and images. A self-narration patrimony that places at the center the process of transformation and contamination of one’s original culture, as a collective resource declinable to the different latitudes of the world.
